I’m sure you’ve heard by now that Lebron is Pro Contraction but if you haven’t- click here.
Well, Avery Johnson (Nets coach) couldn’t WAIT to go at Lebron’s head for his remarks. When asked what he thought about his pro contraction stance, he said, “I disagree. Maybe the league would be better if we didn’t have three stars on one team. Who knows?”
Although Lebron may sound a little like a jerk for saying that, there’s some truth to it. I agree with both Lebron and Avery.
Less teams means the remaining teams would be saturated with top players. That equals better games, more often.
I feel you Lebron.
I’m also one of those people who think one of the attributes of great players is being able to make good players appear to be great. No one talks about how MJ, Magic, Bird, etc. literally MADE their teammates better by challenging them in practice and games. Kobe is definitely amongst the greats in regards to making his teammates look like All Stars.
It takes a special type of true leadership and heart to 1) have the best in the world (it is the NBA) actually respect and listen to you and 2) have enough GUTS to lead your team to the rings.
Leading is more than just scoring, rebounding, passing etc. They have to trust you enough to drink the Kool-Aid first. A name/title is simply not enough. Even if you’re the king.
All that said, I don’t want a contraction. I think the players and coaches on the existing teams need to step their games up in order to be able to compete. If your team is trash, take responsibility and do something about it.
P.S. Lebron, I understand why you went to Miami and for you I think it was the best decision. Wade has proven that he’s a leader and a champ. So when you play, no worries, I will NOT be one of the
millions thousands booing you. We still cool 🙂
