Reports are saying Gallo will miss two to three weeks of play with a sprained knee. This is the best thing that happened to the Knicks since Landry Fields.
I know, I know. Just hear me out!
Here are my top four reasons why…
4. D’Antoni is forced to actually pay attention to the other players on the team. There are some talented guys posted on the Knicks bench. Even by including Turiaf in the starting line up puts the Knicks in a better position because he’s a beast. He’s not afraid to bang around with the big bodies in the front court.
3. Whether you know it or not, it actually clears Amar’e up even more. If you notice, if Gallo’s shooting is off, the defense sags tremendously for two reasons. They know his shot is off, and they know he can’t drive to the baja. It’s no secret that when Gallo goes to the hoop, everyone in the arena does this:
It’s like you have to make a wish and say a prayer every time he drives. No thanks Gallo. There are people who do that better than you on the Knicks.
2. Gallo is REALLY not that good. He’s not a great defender, rebounder, passer or scorer. Yes, he has a ratchet but he’s streaky and when he’s not hitting it, he shouldn’t be on the floor because he doesn’t contribute anything else.
and the number one reason why Gallo’s injury is the BEST thing that happened to the Knicks is……
1. That’s the only way D’Antoni would ever take him off the floor and out of the starting line up.
Don’t shoot the messenger! Just pay attention to the games, tune out all of the hype and you’ll see Gallo is a good off the bench player at best.
