I wonder if Kevin Durant and Kobe collectively decided that last night was a great time to put on a clinic, while simultaneously exposing the weaknesses of their opponents.
First, KD upstages Vince Carter’s “game-winner” by hitting an even better (and actual game-winning) shot.
There’s nothing like a good ‘ol buzzer beater on your home court to completely diminish the self esteem of your opponent. Thought you had a friend, Vince!
Then Kobe unapologetically dismembered the Knicks, making them look like his practice dummies. Although his stat line doesn’t look amazing, his play certainly was. He showed glimpses of the old Kobe. As if that wasn’t enough, he proceeds to call Carmelo out in a press conference saying, “I love playing Melo because I always win.” Ouch.
The main issue with the Mavs and the Knicks is they both badly need a solid point guard. It was uncomfortable to see how discombobulated they both looked with Jason Terry and Dirk then Melo and Amar’e trying to create their own shots. I don’t know what the Mavs are going to do since they got rid of Barrea, but the Knicks need Baron before they spiral out of control!
Last night (via twitter) I completely figured the Knicks out:
Knicks defense= spirit fingers on skates
Knicks offense= pull up from wherever you are on the court.
They will never win with D’Antoni on those sidelines.
